'Bottom up' organisation of events

CSSC Newcastle Area appreciate that, whilst most CSSC members do not want to organise large events for CSSC members throughout the Newcastle Area, many already organise smaller events for colleagues and friends.

In recognition of this we have a membership benefit scheme whereby any CSSC member organising an event for at least five CSSC members, including themselves, can apply for a subsidy from the Area providing that the event costs each person at least £10.00 (excluding alcohol).

The claim must make it clear that you, as a CSSC member, are organising the event for other CSSC members within your party - submitting a claim for an event where members book their own tickets, pay for their own transport, etc. and simply attend an event together, will not be accepted.

A claim can only be made by the CSSC member organising the event and only items booked before the event will be taken into account. The claim must be made prior to the event taking place.

Depending on the cost per person, the maximum subsidy available from 1 January 2008 will be decided by the SSC. It is not presumed that the maximum subsidy will always be offered. The SSC will decide on an individual merit basis the appropriate subsidy.

Do you want to organise an event or trip for CSSC Newcastle?

We are always keen for our members to participate by organising an event of their own for Area members.

We are particularly looking for anyone who may be interested in organising a family event, such as a visit to a soft play area or theme park or simply to hire a few bouncy castles at a suitable venue.

We are also looking for volunteer organisers who would be prepared to organise some events south of the Tyne, as currently most of our organisers and events are situated north of the river.

If you are interested in organising any event for CSSC Newcastle members, advice and assistance (a buddy!) will be provided and there is an Information Pack to help you. In addition, we will offer you a reward of a free place or extra subsidy for organising the event!
